Understanding False Solutions to Deforestation

In a new briefing, Milieudefensie highlights why TNFD is a false solution for the deforestation problem.

False solutions are ideas promoted as ways to combat deforestation and biodiversity loss, but they often fail to address the root causes. These measures can be misleading, giving the impression of progress while allowing destructive practices to continue. In some cases, they even exacerbate the problem or block effective solutions. Many of these approaches are corporate-led and rely on voluntary actions that don’t challenge existing market interests or power structures.
