Report launch during Consumer Fest in Indonesia

During the Consumer Fest, organized by the Responsibank Coalition on November 27th, in Jakarta, TuK Indonesia launched the Banking on Biodiversity Collapse report, in Indonesia.

Indonesia’s financial system currently faces various fundamental issues, ranging from low financial literacy, unequal access, weak consumer protection, and minimal implementation of sustainability principles. This situation demands space for reflection and critical dialogue so that the national financial system can operate more fairly, transparently, and in a way that benefits the people.

The disaster that struck Sumatra is not simply a case of fate, but rather reflects the role of financial services institutions in financing risky sectors. The money that customers deposit, is channeled into loans to companies that damage the environment and rob communities of their livelihoods. Therefore, this activity aims to raise public awareness of consumer and customer rights, link sustainable finance issues to the climate crisis, and build a community of critical consumers.
