Despite the human and environmental rights pacts signed by Cargill, a new report by Repórter Brasil shows there are several indications that its operations have caused harm to the environment and traditional communities.

Despite these numerous links, European, US and Japan based banks continue to funnel millions towards the company. According to Forests & Finance data, between 2019 and 2023, Cargill received at least USD 1.3 billion from these banks, for its soy and palm oil operations in tropical forests.

In recent decades, Cargill has made several high-level commitments to eliminate slave labour, child labour and deforestation from its supply chain. But time and time again the company has broken its promises.
